Commerce and E. Charles Bussey

Anchored by the 1899 William Laporte Building, the intersection of Commerce and East Charles Bussey provided Common Ground its first contiguous multi-lot development. Work commenced first with the removal of massive overgrowth and dying trees, followed closely by the design and build of 414 E. Charles Bussey. 416 E. Charles Bussey was next. And 1920/1922 Commerce followed and in 2023 was awarded the Richard C. Butler Award of Merit for Infill Development by the Quapaw Quarter Association. The William Laporte Building, 1924 Commerce, has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. Upon completion of the Laporte Building restoration, 416 E. Charles Bussey will be developed.
