ALL ABOUT US

Rooted in history. Building for the future.

Founded in 2013, the Common Ground family of companies is family-owned, woman-led. Common Ground Development focuses on construction, and we center its work around our home in Little Rock's historic Pettaway neighborhood. Common Ground Properties provides real estate development and consulting services. Through both companies, we seek to build common ground with legacy neighbors and bring new life to vacant lots and vacant buildings using designs that enhance community. We deliver results with the highest quality standards to create an exceptionally beautiful built environment, respecting the rich history of our place, and weaving new buildings into the existing cultural fabric.

Pettaway is family-friendly, walkable, and bikeable and has a growing small, local business community. Our neighborhood is an overnight success thirty years in the making. It started as a traditional early-growth streetcar neighborhood to Little Rock's original core. Through a series of disasters - some invoked by public policy and others by mother nature - much of the neighborhood commercial activity dried up and the housing stock was decimated. The neighborhood association was founded by residents in about 1994 and named the area in the early 2000s for former resident and notable citizen, Dr. Rev. Caleb D. Pettaway. Many of the seeds of change were sown by the Pettaway Neighborhood Association and the Downtown Little Rock Community Development Corporation before we arrived in the community. Common Ground's founders have built upon the foundation laid by the community and lead infill redevelopment designed to foster neighbor engagement.

Whether you want to make your home in Pettaway or want your community to build on the values of the Pettaway Project, contact us.
